Robert MacLeod

Owner

Robert is a Licensed Optician and Certified Contact Lens Practitioner   

Robert has worked full time in the eye care industry since 1982.  After working for many years, Robert was presented with an opportunity to buy an optical company in 1999, and has grown the business for the past 24 years into what MacLeod Optical & Vision Centre is today.

Robert is from New Waterford and is graduate of Cape Breton University / StFX University with a Bachelor of Science Degree and Canadian Guild of Dispensing Opticians Science program.

Glenna Locke

General Manager

Glenna is a Licensed Optician, Certified Contact Lens Practitioner, and Sight Testing Optician with over 25 years of experience in the eyecare business. She is experienced in soft & hard contact lens fits, Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP’s) and Hybrid lenses  for high myopia, high hyperopia, astigmatism, dry eye, corneal transplants, and other eye-related medical conditions and abnormalities. She now specializes in low vision rehabilitation.

Glenna is from Glace Bay and is a graduate of Cape Breton University and Northern Alberta Institute of Technology – Optical Science Advanced Practice.

Glenna is accepting new patients and welcomes all previous clientele.

Dr. Brennan MacDonald

Optometrist

MacLeod Optical & Vision Centre is pleased to welcome Dr. Brennan MacDonald as our full time optometrist. Dr. MacDonald graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Cape Breton University in 2014 and went on to complete his Doctor of Optometry degree at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA.

Brennan is from New Waterford and is very excited to be practicing here on the Island. Brennan is currently accepting new patients of all ages.

Dr. Kristen MacIntyre

Optometrist

MacLeod Optical & Vision Centre is excited to welcome Dr. Kristen MacIntyre as our 2nd full time optometrist. Dr. MacIntyre graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Prince Edward Island in 2020 and completed her Doctor of Optometry degree at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. 

Kristen is from Sydney, and after working summers at MacLeod Optical as a student, decided to pursue a career in optometry. She is excited to begin her practice back home, where she grew up spending summers on the Bras d’Or Lakes and winters in hockey rinks. Dr. MacIntyre is currently accepting new patients of all ages. 

Curtis MacLeod

Licensed Optician

Curtis is a Licensed Optician and has been working at MacLeod Optical & Vision Centre since 2011.  He is a graduate of Northern Alberta Institute of Technology – Optical Science program.

Curtis is from New Waterford and enjoys playing softball and watching sports.  His favourite pastime is spending time with his wife Tanya and their two fur babies Cooper and Callie. 

Elizabeth White

Receptionist/Optometric Assistant

Elizabeth is the first person you meet when you enter MacLeod Optical & Vision Centre.  She became part of the team in 2018 as Front Desk receptionist and then completed the Optometric Assistant program in 2021.  

Elizabeth is from New Waterford and loves spending time with her family and enjoys gardening in the spring and summer.  

Amber Phillips

Licensed Optician

Amber joined the MacLeod Optical team in 2020 as a Pre-Testing Technician.  Amber decided to further her education and became a Licensed Optician in August 2022. She is a graduate of Northern Alberta Institute of Technology – Optical Science program. Amber’s hard work and dedication paid off.   

Amber is an animal lover and adores her two fur babies Peanut and Bonzo.

Jennifer MacLeod

Frame Consultant

Jennifer joined the MacLeod Optical team in December 2021 as a data entry clerk and found a passion in helping patients choose a frame to compliment their style.  Jennifer truly enjoys seeing complete satisfaction and smiles on customer faces when picking up their new eyewear.

Jennifer loves spending time with her family and cooking for everyone.  Her favourite pastime is  Fishing and relaxing at her summer home in Inverness.
